“From the Heart”, Phil and Sue Fortin’s 2nd CD, was nominated for Unity Awards in 2008 for Devotional Album of the Year and New Artist of the Year. The album was inspired through listening to the many stories of friends, family, and parishioners who expressed a longing to be healed from painful events, or to be uplifted in their private prayer time. It was a response to their desire to recreate in the quiet of their lives the experience they may have had at a retreat, prayer service, or concert.
Phil and Sue bring a strong sense of prayer to their ministry through their diverse musical backgrounds and deep spirituality. They are accomplished in music of all styles of sung prayer from traditional to contemporary, and complement this with their own compositions.
Their ministry focus is to lead others to a deeper relationship with Christ and his church through music, prayer, and song, and to
enhance the quality of their worship experience.
They share their music in a variety of settings: in concert, praise and worship, retreats, workshops and conferences, and recordings.
They have appeared in concert with artists such as Tom Kendzia, Marty Haugen, Dana, Jesse Manibusan, and Steve Angrisano. In addition to their personal ministry, they are music directors at a parish in Cumberland, RI. They are also founders and music directors for New Creation, a LIFETEEN music ministry in Stoughton, MA, which is a part of a larger national program leading teens closer to Christ.
Both degreed musicians (Phil Berklee College of Music, Boston; Sue Northwestern University, Evanston Il.), Phil and Sue also have their own individual ventures. Sue has a small private piano studio, is a free-lance recital accompanist, and teaches music part-time at a parochial school. Phil actively shares his ministry as a soloist, and in addition arranges for and performs with various contemporary instrumental and vocal groups.
