Album Notes

Phono's influences are rooted in the musical genius of artists like Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, David Bowie, Aphex Twin, The Beatles, Depeche Mode, Enigma and so on.

"My music is about my life, my past lives, and about the life I have yet to live." says front man Joe Ashton. Phono's industrial beats, instrumentation and harmonic vocal melodies create contrasts that express dynamic emotional qualities. Phono creates music with the intention of taking the listener on an emotional journey.

Phono was formed as the brain child of one man Joe "Phono" Ashton. Very young learning all the instruments he could get his hands on, he excelled in music. In 2002 "Dementia" Phono's first album release (available now from CDbaby and many other retailers) rocked Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. "The album was a journey into the depths of my life experiences at that moment." Says front man Joe Ashton. "It was a very dark place, with fragments of happiness popping up here and there." Fast forward to 2005, Phono's newest cathartic creation "The Changeover" is out now and can be purchased from cd baby and many other retailers.

Phono has a rich, complex sound that's industrial but powerfully melodic, hypnotic. The track 'Questions' never fails to give me goosebumps. Great stuff! I've been trying to find somewhere to buy this cd for YEARS, ever since I came across Phono on mp3.com back in the days it didn't suck and was actually opening the door to artists all over the world. These guys are going to be something.
