The pHormula is a hip-hop group that is based in Eugene, Oregon. The members of this group include DJ pHonics, pHilosopHy, AlpHa-Matic, and Examine. These four artists have been working together in the Northwest Hip-Hop scene for more than six years. During that time, the group has developed a solid reputation as one of Eugene's best live hip-hop acts. This reputation has earned them the opportunity to open for professional acts such as, KRS-ONE, Atmosphere, Lyrics Born, People Under the Stairs, Pigeon John, Saul Williams, Cappadonna, SlimKid Tre from Pharcyde, 2 Live Crew, Awol One, the Typical Cats, the Coup, Aceyalone, One Block Radius, and Louis Logic.

3 Emcee’s and DJ pHonics, The Sound Scientist, combine to create a style of Hip-Hop that is catchy but not commercial. The pHormula’s music portrays a positive up lifting attitude while maintaining the unique ability to entertain the crowd by conveying a clear message on each track. Emcee’s pHilosopHy, his brother Examine, and AlpHa-Matic all attended the same high school while growing up. Now they rock stages, write rhymes, and drop clever lyrics on the beats that DJ pHonics produces. This four-man team has a flawless, hi-energy performance that brings the audience to life and gets everyone involved. The 3 emcees interact naturally with one other on stage, while DJ pHonics provides the record scratches that truly accentuate the pHormula’s raw underground style.
