"Patricia Hruby is a vibrant artist, performing her stories from the inside, drawing her audience into hilarious personal territory. She's smart and witty -- a delightful writer, a brilliant performer. Like Baryshnikov in a speaking role, the dancer is always present."
- Norma Marder, author
STORIES:
"In Search of Mt. Olympus" - a story of Patricia's moving to the Greek Islands in order to study dance when she was 19 years old, interspersed with snippets of the Greek myths and the introduction to many of the Greek gods and goddesses. Not only for adults, but for those in middle school and high school who are studying ancient Greek culture and mythology.
"The Treasure" - a story of Patricia's moving to London to dance, where she literally discovers a hidden treasure; how the windfall is used up, disappears; and reappears by cosmic intervention, disappears and reappears....
"One World" - a story of Patricia moving to the country with her husband Morgan, so they might build their paradise; a realization that the country and the city are all of one world; and that humans and animals are all of one world; complete with life-like animals sounds.
The musicians who play the interludes on this CD: Dorothy Martirano (violin), Armand Beaudoin (bass), and Morgan Powell (trombone) are phenomenal.

Moving, a dancers life: mythical realism, magical realism, and realist realism
author: Paul E. Powell
In Search of Olympus deftly populates a Greek island with gods, goddesses and nymphs sprung full-blown from the teenaged head of the author as she experiences life there with sailors, fishermen, farmers and her sister dancers. In The Treasure Ms. Hruby relates the magical story of her odyssey into an international career as a dancer in pursuit of the golden fleece of success and the no less elusive funds for it that magically appear, disappear and …. One World returns us to earth with the joy and wonder of nature in stories much like those of Virgil in The Georgics.
Ms. Hruby hilariously relates this myth, magic and reality in a voice that moves with the grace, energy and surprise of dance.

Master storyteller Patty Powell entertains us with her past adventures.
author: Annette Zelanski
These stories are part of Patty Powell's personal insights while practicing and performing dance in Greece, London, NYC, and Illinios from the 70's to the present. Linking threads of the storyline jete from one country to the next, while the main fabric of the dance contain them all. The telling of these stories, of searching for the Greek gods while in Greece to passions thwarted in London, from finding treasures in a candy tin in London to her unique reclaiming of the stolen treasure again in NYC, will keep you visualizing far away places long after the cd is over. If you have ever wondered what a dancer's life is really like when they are not performing, this cd will give you a peek into the complexities of one particular dancer, and her journey.
