Swedish singer Pia Fridhill and her two musicians Jens Hoffmann and Wilhelm Geschwind present jazz influenced soulpop with strong melody lines, rich meaningful lyrics and expressional vocals. With minimum instrumentation they extract maximum musicianship from voice, acoustic guitar, piccolo double bass and percussion, creating a very personal sound ambience and a touching atmospheric soulfulness.
The roots of Swedish melancholy always finds their way to Pia Fridhill’s albums - on this first part of the Triptychon trilogy in a bass and vocals interpretation of the traditional “Visa från Utanmyra” where Pia sings about the one man that bewitched her and left her forever. The songs “Time” and “Maybe things will be better” were both written by Pia Fridhill and her husband and guitarist Jens Hoffmann in a forest hut in Sweden during a blackout at minus 25 degrees celcius – the reason why these songs brittle with mystery, philosophy and a deep sense of calmness. A note of existential mystery is expressed in the sea breeze lightness of “Let the world slide” and finally the love of Pia's life writes his contribution to their wedding with the heartfelt souly “There’s only one”.
