Album Notes

DIRTY LINEN: "Rough and true vocals distinguish the original compositions and display diverse musical interests".

Chicago singer-songwriter-actor Rick Pickren's writing and arranging deftly melds pop, celtic and folk elements into a satisfying musical whole.

Featuring Rick on lead vocals, guitar, banjo and bouzouki with an all star band including mandolin virtuoso Don Stiernberg, Marian McPartland's bassist Jim Cox, Cathy Richardson Band member and Modern Drummer columnist Ed Breckenfeld on drums and Special Consensus alum Drew Carson, the playing is inventive, exciting and top notch.

*The title track is an intoxicating and sensual delight. "The Song of Wandering Aengus" musically frames W.B. Yeats poem beautifully.
"There Must Be Some Mistake" is an acoustic rocking delight.
And, the reel, "Livvie Mae", is filled with displays of virtuosity.
Planting By The Moon is an enjoyable acoustic romp from beginning to end.
