"The Call" is great! Thank you
author: Matt McCormick of SaddleSongs.com
I have added "The Call," "Molly Mae," "American TV" and "The Last Wagon" to the Saddle Songs play list. I have loved Critchlow's "The Last Wagon" for a long time and really enjoy your recording. You have done a great job.

Definite Winner!
author: Rick Huff
"If staying lonesome gives him the time to come up with efforts like this, let’s hope he stays out there a good long while! This entire production is impressive. In his more projected vocals, Pickren has an edge of Frankie Laine about him, but at other times he can put more of a tender lilt on it than Laine ever managed. His original songs like “Molly Mae” and particularly this CD’s title track “The Call” are definite winners. The arrangements are frisky, fun and intelligent making the oldest material like “My Darling Clementine” line up just fine with the new." Rick Huff, CowboyPoetry.com

True West!
author: Country Attitude
"In a country music where few real cowboy songs remain (like those of Marty Robbins), Rick belongs to those who are still conscious of the legacy of the North-American cowboys, being a direct descendant of Bill Cody. He has the good idea not to cover songs of The Sons of the Pioneers or other such legends already covered a hundred times. There are some covers, indeed, among them Deck Of Cards that he re-sets among the cowboys instead of soldiers and Tex Ritter, but he can also write fine ballads about the West and its riders : The Call, The Ballad Of Alfred Packer, Windy Bill and The Last Wagon adding a light swing touch on Molly Mae a zest of Celtic (Wranglers Reel) or a little hillbilly bop / bluegrass on Tombstone, Arizona, Sierry Petes and American TV."
