notes

Rails, Rogues & Wrecks features railroad favorites The Wreck Of The Old 97, Waiting For A Train and The Rock Island Line. Rick also wrote two songs for the project:
Runnin’ Out Of Track and Cody & Lil’ Missie.

Cody & Lil’ Missie tells the true story of the wreck of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show train on October 29, 1901.
The train wreck occurred near the same stretch of road just north of Danville, Virginia where the Old 97 met her fate in 1903. A descendant of William F. Cody, Rick has a keen interest in the history of Buffalo Bill Cody.

The injuries Annie Oakley suffered brought an end to her long association with the Colonel and the Wild West Show.
Although Bill regrouped and toured on, the beginning of the end was drawing near for Buffalo Bill and the Wild West Show.

This recording has been generously supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

Featured musicians include: Tom Boyd of Dry Branch Fire Squad on dobro & bluegrass banjo, Malcolm Ruhl: acoustic bass and Special Consensus alum Drew Carson: mandolin.
