Album Notes

Rick Pickren, a descendant of Buffalo Bill Cody, sings and plays sixteen colorful cowboy songs with vitality and authenticity. Eleven of the songs are from John A. Lomax's 1910 collection "Cowboy Songs and Other Frontier Ballads"; two are attributed to cowboy Romy Loudermilk and three are Rick's original cowboy songs.

Rick is a two time winner of the Marlboro Country Music Tour Contest. He has shared the stage with George Strait, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, The Judds, Joe Ely, Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell and cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell.

As an actor, Rick portrayed the role of Jim in the original Chicago production of Pump Boys and Dinettes and also starred in and directed Foxfire. He is featured in the films: Major League, While You Were Sleeping, U.S. Marshals and Soul Survivors. He has appeared in many TV programs, guest-starring in The Untouchables, Early Edition, Turks and The Jamie Kennedy Experiment.
