BIO
Pictures of Then formed in 2005 and immediately set to work finding a sonic balance between reverence for the past and vision of the future, fashioning a sound that reflected their aptly chosen name. The Minneapolis, MN based quintet's debut album, Crushed By Lights, has been widely acclaimed, earning comparisons to Pink Floyd and Smashing Pumpkins (www.citybeat.com). Their often diverse sound, ranging from sonic rock anthems to Beatles-esque sing-alongs, perhaps finds a common thread through the "unique and appealing vocals" (www.taxi.com) of front-man Casey Call, and the groups tendency to fuse indie rock with retro-style. City Pages' Brian Baker, may have best described the music of Pictures of Then as "spirited and buzzy, swung with Glam/Pop abandon, channeling Psychedelic Folk roots through howling Indie Rock branches..."
The band is currently busy touring in anticipation of their follow-up full length album which is scheduled for release late summer 2008.

"Hailing from the well-known music town of Minneapolis, PofT, has quite the legacy to follow. The boys pass the test with flying colors with their stellar track, “Instant Rocket to Glory.” The art of songwriting is not easy, yet, these indie-rockin’ retro throwbacks know all the tricks!"

- MPMF Live Review
Crushed By Lights, smells of Built to Spill and Malkmus — perhaps helping to further shape the new “Minneapolis Sound.” It’s upbeat, short and sweet and riddled with deceit.

Current really blew me away - the other songs are good as well but Current is special...I really like the band, a lot of interesting musical parts, very distinctive and appealing vocals.

Unique Indie Sound
author: Stan Letscher
I am a music junkie and I listen to a lot of Indie Artists. Pictures of then is not like any of the other Indie Artists I listen to. They have a unique sound that's different and very new to the Indie world, in my opinion. The front man of the group knows his music and I should know, I have some of his original music before Pictures of Then was even formed!

The band rocks so hard it makes me want to cry...and then hurl.
author: Tomelodious Callmeperfect
Very pleasant "whimsically fastasia inducing" melodies. Extremely hard and heavy "to the point of screaming while yer face is melting" guitar riffs. Righteously solid "kick you in the butt, if yer not careful" drumming. Over-the- top bulbous thundering spasms of bass terds. And quite frankly...a really cheesy auxillary percussion and keyboard "unnecessary distraction" section.
THIS REVIEW IS NOT YET RATED!
