notes

For the last few years the fan base for PIE BOYS FLAT has been growing all over New York City, The U.S., and abroad! Jason, Fitz, and Patrick have truly crafted an original live experience that you don't find anywhere else. Known for writing songs that cross many genres (from rock 'n' roll to reggae, blues to bluegrass, Latin rock to jazz funk) they bring all these styles home every time with their very unique arrangements. 'Less is more' is the formula implied here: 6 musicians in 3. Intricate guitar and bass melodies all supported by a percussion setup unlike any other, add on the vocal harmonies that these three musicians unexpectedly build, and you have what has developed so distinctly into the PIE BOYS FLAT SOUND.

  • Uproot the Island

I am a cousin of Brian's and I bought the CD for my 16 year old son. He had it on his Christmas list, so apparently he knows what it sounds like. I'm sure it is great! My family wouldn't make anything that wasn't!

Well...first, I have to let you know that I've had the pleasure of knowing Patrick for MANY years now. His brother is my brother-in-law, so I've known Patrick since about 8th or 9th grade. I always knew he had talent, but I never dreamed I'd actually spend money to listen to him! :) It's more than worth the money. I LOVE THIS BAND! The first time I heard these songs (this wasn't even a REAL cd yet), I thought it was a little crazy, and chalked it up as "not my style." THEN...my brother-in-law & sister brought it with them on a visit to the northern states, and THAT is when I fell in love with this sound. I listen to this cd whenever I'm stressed, and I listen to it (and share it) A LOT at work. My co-workers like the island sounds, and can't believe these guys' voices! This cd really relaxes me, and on #3, Patrick's laugh just makes me giggle every time I hear it! Thanks guys, for putting your hearts and souls into this cd. I can't say enough how proud your families must be.

I have to support my fellow SU Alum. This CD, being an almost rerelease, has come back with a better quality of sound and tighter harmonies! You guys rock and you know it!

  • AWESOME!

I love this CD. I decided to by it after I met Fitz at summer camp. It has great music to listen to and chill out too. Buy it!

  • This Trio Sets Out To 'Uproot The Island'
    author: Richard Livsey

Although New York City primarily resides on two islands, it’s not necessarily known for producing bands that sound as if they had originated in the Caribbean. Sure there are exceptions to the rule, and the band Pie Boys Flat are one of them. To read the entire review go to: www.richardlivsey.com/pie

  • Compelling and original sound, dancing is inevitable
    author: T. Steven Dick

PBF is not some 3 chord pop sensation. These guys are gifted musicians with a truly original outlook. 3 singers joined to 3 instruments creating 6 voices and an even bigger sound. The emotional pain is palpable in Lights Go Out, yet you find yourself swaying in spite of yourself. And while the band's infectious high energy is felt on each song, it is especially evident on 900 Ways and When I'm Dead Write Me A Song, just to name two. I can't wait to see them live!

  • Unique take on reggae
    author: Carol Leinman

This band is definitely different. What originally struck me were the harmonies. I am in the business and you get tired of hearing albums that have a lead singer harmonize with themselves. you know they will not pull it off live. This band has three members, three singers, and three unique voices. The beat is undeniable. They should do well with this album.

  • This is AMAZING!
    author: Jack Dempsey

I have never heard a sound like this one. It reminds me of that rock, island back beat (like early sublime) but the harmonies are unstoppable!! Their range of influences are obvious in their song writing. I feel like this band will be blowing minds world wide very soon!
