Album Notes

Pig Farmer has performed together over a decade. A band based on the life and times of its fearless leader, Jim Hellerich, Pig Farmer provides the unique soundtrack to this one of a kind American superhero. This Internationally-acclaimed Rockabilly ensemble epitomizes pure Midwestern flavor with all its down-home feel. True Roots Music. Pig Farmer’s third Nashville recorded CD “Hambone”(2002) has drawn attention from every corner of the globe and has been featured on many overseas radio programs. Jimmy is currently compiling material for his fourth installment entitled, “Mountain Oyster”, set to be released in 2005.

Pig Farmer is the labor of love and brain-child of founder, James “Jimmy” P. Hellerich—a musical devotee of Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond and Jerry Lee Lewis. Jim started playing and writing his first songs as a young boy living the simple life on a Missouri Pig Ranch. Jim is Pig Farmer’s resident songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist and blows the meanest rock-a-billy harmonica around. Bassist Jeffery Scott puts a unique twist to this hopped up roots sound by infusing a rock attitude and tail-shaking groove. Drummer Jay Albright’s deep dedication to his craft and exhaustive musical experience drive the group to the highest levels of synchronicity. Utility man Jason Riley, is left to inter-weave rock-a-billy lines as the second guitarist or on his slide, banjo, or mandolin.

This one of a kind group takes the musical approach less traveled with a sound they call ”Punk-a-billy” . Their blend of original and stylized cover songs can be described as a fusion or twisted country with a touch of rock (Americana, Alternative Country). This Midwestern musical vignette has been featured on radio programs throughout Europe and Australia. What is it about this act that has people around the world interested? The music? Certainly. But we believe the larger attraction is the honesty and down home quality that goes into the writing, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
