"Her crypto-poetic delivery plays like the NYC-cool inner dialogues of Suzanne Vega & Jim Carroll crossed w/ the unpredictable shifts of middle-period PJ Harvey. Even at this early stage in her career, Pillmore is easily more than the sum of those parts."

Album Notes

"Isn't it just like me to walk into a storm head first?" (What I Need)... And that's just what she does with her second cd, Slightly Skewed. Jess Pillmore lets you in on a personal journey with images so vivid that you might blend Jess's past with your own. This independent artist is causing an international buzz with Slightly Skewed. Her blend of folk, jazz and pop is infectious and delightful. If you've been looking for a singer/songwriter who can speak to you directly... then take a listen to Slightly Skewed.

Folk with a bite... Rock with a vision... songs with an edge. Jess Pillmore's extensive work within theatre, dance and music have enabled her to write songs that make each moment three-dimensional. Wherein every moment has heart, will and perspective. Her music makes the connection and leaves with you, to turn in your head days after you have seen her. Her melodies and lyrics feel comfortable - like someone out there knows you. Love and fear- distrust and growth - the wear and tear of life. It is all there in a rhythm that flickers and haunts you.
