notes
There's only one theremin lounge band, and that's Project: Pimento!
Get out your cocktail shakers and prepare to party in sophisticated style! Project: Pimento is a five-piece band from San Francisco, with a repertoire of toe-tapping lounge favorites from the 40s, 50s, and 60s...all with a space-age twist!
Project: Pimento features the smoothly seductive vocal stylings of the lovely and talented Miss Lola Bombay. Lola, the alter ego of jazz vocalist Lori Carsillo, brings a silky, irresistable sound to the mix...like the olive in your martini! Guitarist Absolute Michael, stand-up bassist Makers Mark, and drummer Top-Shelf Rich are all key ingredients to the band's all-star lineup. And the CD also features a special guest appearance by the noted San Francisco Hammond organ player Nick "Martini and" Rossi.
Project: Pimento also features the smooth sounds of Robby Virus on the theremin. Invented in the 1920s, the theremin was the world's first electronic instrument. The theremin is notoriously difficult to master, since one must "play" the air around it without actually touching the instrument itself. Dr. Virus is one of the world's few theremin virtuosos, and conjures up high-class, jet-set elegance with his smooth melodies.
With a shaker full of swank tunes, and a rhythm section that will drink any flaming cocktail you put in front of them, Project: Pimento promises hi-fi-hi-jinks for all!!

Very nice lounge/theremin combination
author: John O'ConnorA wonderful CD. The female singer is very easy on the eyes, and she actually sings, too. The instrumental work is tight and professional, and the theremin is most often used as the main solo instrument, and it works. A very competent group of musicians, doing cocktail jazz standards very professionally.
Wonderful lounge music!
author: GeraldWhat a wonderful album. Great tracks, a great singer, a great band and a stunning theremin. I'm so glad that I've found and bought this album. And I would be even happier if I could see Project Pimento live in Germany! Please come to Germany!!!
The Theremin in a wholly new context
author: TomA wonderfully eclectic mix of great tunes that go exceptionally well with those unmistakeable theremin tones. The unusual combination of vocals and theremin makes for an intriguing palette of sounds that lingers on and on.
A GREAT CD!
author: MarcelleHaving just been introduced to Lori Carsillo's music, and purchasing 2 of her prior CD's, I had to check out P:P. Now I find myself playing the CD's over and over. :) I particularly enjoy Bali Ha'i and Sway on this CD. I look forward to P:P's (or Lori's) next CD!

Just right for relaxing but also for swinging. Love to have more music from this new wonderful group.I play my CD all day long, can't stop it.
Just love that theremin
author: Darren Smith (darren.smith@nycmail.com)It used to be a hightlight of my time in SF when I got to see the lovely Lola Bombay slinking across the stage as Project Pimento played Peter Gunn. I love this stuff, they are great... If you like lounge music or you have wondered about the weird music at the end of the original Star Trek then buy this.. it is kitsch, it is cool...
Thank You Project: Pimento
author: CherokeepeteThis is the best thing I have heard since I care to remember, these guy's really know what lounge, if that's what you want to label it as, is about. They have made all the great songs on this record their own and given them a total new lease of life. Can't wait for the next one.
Swell!
author: jrIf you own a theremin, you must own this CD.
Groovilicious
author: Spencer BrownI dont buy new music too often-- due to the often ocurrence of disappointment after the one song i hear is great then the rest turns out to be cr%p. But luckily the music stylings of project pimento are superior in quality... and innovative in approach-- i give it 10 dead monkey skulls out of ten dead monkey skulls
Lounge lizards of coool!
author: MaxSFProject Pimento's album is waaayyy cool, laid back and one of the most interesting and fun albums I have heard in a while. The Theremin sound is entirely unique and P:P uses its Theremin to remarkable effect on all the songs. Perhaps the most striking is the theme from Star Trek. P:P's version is THE definitive version. Very spacey and cool. The band is also great fun to see live. Ms. Lola Bombay is all sultry sexiness with just a tiny tongue in her cheek. The guitar, bass and drums are rock solid but restrained as needed. And the Theremin player knows how to move his hands through thin air. Check them out if you can, if not, buy the CD.
wow! this is really great!!
author: althe musicianship and vocals are strong. the production is very clear and the mix is good. they have a way of making that "black magic woman" song sound good to me. nice job!! all i can do is wait for them to make another cd!!
2nd time I've ordered CD's as gifts!!
author: JayThe theremin is unique, blends with the great vocals, and a hit with all the friends, for whom I've played it.We are all over 60 years of age too!!
perfect martini accessory
author: Carol Tysonhaving seen this band live, i knew what to expect. this cd is a must have for anyone who craves a sound that is as appropriate for a cocktail party as it is for motoring out to palm springs for the weekend. you will not be disappointed.
Unique music that grows on you
author: Reed HolmesI bought this CD because I loved the band's version of Bali H'ai. The rest of the songs on the CD have a unique sound and are fun to listen to. It takes a little while to get used to the sound of the theramin, but the more you listen to the CD, the more you appreciate it. The vocals are fantastic. I love the band's version of the Star Trek theme. If you're tired of the crap that passes for popular music these days, this is a CD that will give you hope that there are still talented musicians out there making innovative music.
Great music ,Love the CD
author: M.C.YossaReally enjoy listening to this cd Please make more.
Interesting album - could do with more tempo variation
author: StephenThis is a nice, interesting album with some goods songs and excellent performances. The only reason this did not receive 5 stars is the tempo; I felt a little more variety and the tracks "Star Trek" and "Black Magic Woman" would have benefited from a really slow, sleazy pace.
Sultry
author: Kittyi listened to it 3 times in a row while cooking dinner. perfect background music. sultry. loungy. and in the spotlight, the theramin--a fascinating, often forgotten instrument, but not so on the project pimento cd.
Dude where's my theremin!
author: MysterioEncore, encore...the sound that makes you crave more! what a unique and hypnotic sound! can't wait for the next CD!
Theremin climbs out of the Sci-Fi archives and makes the Lounge scene!
author: BruceWow, I didn't know the theremin could swing, but "in" Robby's hands it does, and it provides a hauntingly mysterious backdrop for Lola Bombay's rich vocals. She make's whatever Lola wants, truly foolish to resist, so buy this CD. These cats know how to entertain!
Awesome!
author: BethThis is great, unusual music! Nice choice of songs, upbeat and playful. Lola has me convinced, she's got what it takes. Her voice and the Theremin blend very nicely together. What more can I say, it's worth adding to your collection.
Wonderful Debut Offering
author: Robert "Bob" BoydHaving heard the uniquely splendid P:P perform several times live, I found no surprises in these tracks, which were everything I had hoped for and no less. These are the songs you hear on stage, and the production values are flawless. Full marks for great cover art also. I'd have liked pix of the band within, but that's my only quibble, and a miniscule one at that.
Wow and again WOW!
author: Pappa DocFantastic! Double Vodka on the rocks nd then some Many friends have listened, expect more orders WOW! cyberdocfj
A welcome and fun addition to any theremin lovers collection!
author: Jeff S.The mix of lounge and theremin is a match made in heaven! Magical Moods is a fine collection of well done remakes of classic tunes joined with a theremin competently played. This is a must have for every theremin or lounge enthusiast!
good music, good theremon playing
author: AndyBeing in the other only theremin lounge band, I always enjoy hearing theremin in a louge setting. This is a great cd with some fine theremin playing. The rest of the band ain't no slouches ether. I'm only focusing on the theremin, because thats what i play.
