notes
There's nothing timid about the latest release from Alison Pipitone - Retrodyne. She kicks the door open with the first track - the rollicking I Don't Remember You - and doesn't let go, even with the ballads. Pipitone, who has a talent for bringing to life the phrase "Wearing your heart on your sleeve," has created another batch of songs with emotionally intimate lyrics encased in achingly tender vocals. I Don't Remember You is the perfect opening to this masterful music compilation. Its resoundingly urgent opening chords blasting out from the speakers accompanying the fervently emotional lyrics - "I remember the breath I breathed when you held me/I remember the strength you had when I cried/I remember the love I felt when you felt me/I remember that long terrible sad goodbye" - readies the listener for the musical odyssey to come. The next tune, Sticking Real Good, is so incredibly sexual and hard driving with lyrics comparing her girl to a fast car - Darlene my queen you know you are the best ride in town/To hear your engines roar only makes me want you more/I would live to drown in that sound/the boom boom of your wheels against the ground/I'll be the first to admit if you throttle me a bit/I will turn those curves till sundown " - I dare you not to smoke a cigarette after listening to it. Okay, so maybe you won't, but something inside of you will be smokin'. If not, you should check yourself for a pulse. Even with the harder-edged sound than her previous releases, Pipitone doesn't totally abandon the ballads that she has a knack for. Retrodyne is filled with beautiful harmonies and overpowering sweet lead vocals in melodious tunes such as Cee Cee, Sean and Getting Married. Once again, Pipitone shows she has the gift for expressing the wonder, magic, loneliness and eternal optimism of the human spirit, whether wrapped in strong electric guitar chords or the wistful vocals of one whose experienced all of it and is longing for more.

retrodyne is alison pipitone's finest hour....she's been rockin in buffalo for years(luckely for us)..the song "see see sean" should be a #1 hit song....but in a world of mtv generated glam girls....it was only natural for this one to get overlooked....so do your mind a favor and let alison and holly lay it down and set yourself free
RETRODYNE – THE LATEST RELEASE FROM ALISON PIPITONE IS A MASTERPIECE
author: Diane MeholickWithout a doubt, each album that Buffalo, NY singer-songwriter Alison Pipitone puts out is better than the last—and she’s put out 6—and with her latest, RETRODYNE, she has produced a masterpiece. The twelve songs on this cd feature tight, creative music and lyrics that dig deep into the human psyche. Pipitone bares her heart in these songs. Her lyrics are direct, touching, beautiful, and captivating. She captures you with the first words of the opening tract, the hard-hitting “I Don’t Remember You”, an anthem about the memories following a failed relationship, and she never lets you go. The second tract, “Sticking Real Good”, is a wild racecar ride “I would live to drown in that sound, the boom boom of your wheels against the ground. I’ll be the first to admit if you throttle me a bit, I will turn those curves till sundown.” Title tract “Retrodyne” features mesmerizing instrumentation and detailed imagery. “It’s a red pumping heart and a brand new day, it’s a long hot summer and a real nice time to play, the sun’s coming up and it looks like cherry wine, fruits are ripe and hanging on the vine.” The melodious “Cee Cee Sean” is filled with lovely harmony and you find yourself wishing the song would never end. In “No More This and That” Pipitone portrays the obvious yet painful changes in your life that come with lost love. “No more love songs for you…No more rolling at the crack of noon, no more saying goodnight and not goodbye, no more making eggs 4 at a time…no more us and let’s and we…no more being alone when I’m not alone.” And Pipitone’s image-inducing lyrics just keep on coming. Check out the opening lines of “Dancing Girls on the Tables”—“It’s late, it’s late…and for that I apologize, but here I stand under your window with a cell phone, getting looks form the passersby, cuz it’s raining and it’s a cold rain…” And the song’s chorus—“Would you go with me to a party. They got food, they got tons of booze, an indoor pool, a barbecue and dancing girls on the tables.” Man, I want to attend that party! Pipitone closes the cd with the lovely acoustic “Getting Married”, a song that showcases her beautiful, haunting, incredibly sweet voice. Yes, RETRODYNE is a masterpiece, one that has me eagerly awaiting Pipitone’s next release. And after you listen to this cd, you’ll be awaiting that next release as well. Pure Powerhouse Rocker
author: Deborah KeithUnlike her last release I’ll ask her, – an unplugged collection of soulful songs from the heart, Pipitone returns to her rocker ways with this release. Packed with powerful riffs and lusty lyrics, Pipitone lends a 60’s retro feel to some of the songs on this CD. But, retro or not, this CD rocks . . . Major! Pipitone wastes no time sliding into overdrive with back-to-back rockers to kick off this CD. I don’t remember you and Sticking real good. are powerful songs both musically and lyrically. As a mater of fact, Sticking real good does just that! Using fast cars as a metaphor for even faster women, 'Sticking’ has a driving rhythm that humps your leg like a dog in heat. A great song when you’re behind the wheel of your own fast car. Retrodyne is pure Pipitone at her best both musically and lyrically. The songs speak of love, lust, heartache, and desire. Even with Dime store Blues written by Rose Bond, Pipitone delivers a rockin good time. If you haven’t experienced Pipitone’s brand of rock, it’s time you did. Retrodyne delivers a powerful introduction to newcomers and will provide stalwart Pipitone fans their latest dose of rockin good tunes. Favorite Tracks: Sticking Real Good, Buzz Kill, I Don’t Remember You

Excellent, this rocks!
author: MichaelI put this CD on where I work, and people keep asking - Wow, who is THIS!?! - and then they demand a pen so that they can write down all the info on the Pipitone phenomenon... This is a hell of a record!
Passion, life, emotion!
author: John P.Wow! I was spellbound the minute I heard this. The songs are profound and sung with such passion. Can't get enough of hearing these songs.
Smooth!
author: JennyI love Alison's new CD - her voice reaches into your soul and comforts and soothes it of all it's woes. I have shared it with friends and they've already gone and bought their own copies.
I love her voice
author: Marie from LII listen to a lot of music. All kinds. This CD appeals to me mostly because her voice is very warm, and it makes me feel really good when I listen to it. I put the music on and I can't stop bopping my head and smiling, like I'm right there in the audience. I'm not a reviewer, but I am a young woman who appreciates other confident women who aren't afraid to take chances. I look forward to hearing more of her songs. This CD is very cool.
Yet another solid release from Alison Pipitone
author: ChrisYet another solid release from Alison Pipitone. The wait is over. Retrodyne, Pipitone's sixth album, is finally available. If you've heard any of her previous CDs, you'll definitely like this one. Twelve tracks, some new and some that we've been hearing for awhile at her live shows. And as usual, there isn't a bad song among them. The only downside is that once we've played this one to death, we won't likely see another one very soon.
