Album Notes

Last year marked the debut of the first installment of The Western Ballad Opera. Critics embraced the CD, as did music fans who watched its popularity grew into five nominations to the Academy of Western Artist (AWA). The unique saga has been described as "Lonesome Dove for the ears," and by Cowboy and Indians Magazine as, "...a box set trilogy telling the story of some of the most compelling characters whose realistic and colorful adventures are filled with good fortune, hard luck, wrenching twists, and unexpected turns." True West Magazine has gone so far as to declare; "The CD is destined to become a cult classic, creating a new genre that may leave traditional western music in the dust!"

The Pistol River band performs the epic series of 28 intertwined musical tales on 3 CDs, highlighting the gripping story of two generations of pioneers in a lawless frontier who find themselves swallowed up in circumstances created by events and the choices they make in their lives. The three CDs blend sequential western ballads in, rock, country, folk and bluegrass styles cohesively telling a single, but elaborate and suspenseful tale pulling the listener into the fascinating and delicately woven story of greed, evil, murder, lies, vengeance and redemption against the back drop of the Old West.

Thanks pardners. Your story telling is so convincing that I can smell coffee and bacon in the early morning air before breaking camp for another hard ridin' day. Gene from WolfFair. http://wolffair.com
