Album Notes

Pitch Black Dream's music is moody and atmospheric, perfect for soundtracks. Tracks from this CD have appeared on "The Bad Girls Club" on Oxygen, "Road Rules: Inferno" and "The Real World" on MTV.

Bernadette McCallion & Rich Gaglia have teamed up for another release as Pitch Black Dream. Together, they are forging a new sound in electronic music - dreamy, beat-driven with a pop-edge. On "Fading Away," they have expanded their sound with more guitars, and focused their songwriting to create taut songs full of cinematic imagery.

Bernadette and Rich's cover the Doors' "Love Me Two Times" was chosen for Skipping Discs compilation "Love Her Madly: New Women Artists Cover The Doors." (Also available at CD Baby.) With the success of that recording, the pair decided to write and record new material as a duo and the result is "Never Going Home." Together, they are forging a new sound in electronic music - dreamy, beat-driven, and hypnotic with a dark edge.

The track 'Invitation Only' was featured on the crime drama The Shield. Always at work, PBD's cover of "Space Oddity" is the lead track in Skipping Discs compilation of new artists paying tribute to David Bowie, "Spiders from Venus."

A very surprising album - surprising because i like it so much, it's not the sort of music i listen to. Bernadette McCallion's voice is very restful & harmonious and Rich Gaglia's music is very reminiscent to me of Fragile State. They work very very well together. As i say i don't normally listen to mood music like this but this is superb.

In a densely populated musical area, it's to Pitch Black Dream's benefit that they use guitars to give the music more colour than is often the case in a genre where synths and programming dominate and can render the music flat and bland. Certainly Rich creates some gorgeous laid-back moods and textures for Bernadette to float her vocals on....

"There are three elements here that combine to produce such intensely atmospheric music: the voice, the music, and the production. The care and perfectionism of each part produces music of real power..."
