ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Phillip “Pixs” Merchant is what you would call a musician extraordinaire. Rhythm seems to flow from anything that he touches and it continues to flow from either the strings of his bass guitar or the sticks for the drums. The range of music that he has played, from Jazz to Rock, with concentrations in Reggae, has not only introduced the world to a new sound, sense of hearing, and new appreciation for music, but has also encourage feelings, freedom and expression not allowed in most venues.

I have know Phillip the musician, “Bass Man” “Pixs”, for about 20 years and the love for the instrument comes out in every song that he plays. From the days of Gospel Caribbean Style, to the Howard Jazz Band, to Midnite, to DAPP Band, the growth and love has grown in ways that not only those with a keen ear for music can hear but any music lover.

His arrangement skills, ability to write and transcribe sounds to notes, fine tune the smallest sound for the best result in the completion of the music is astounding. Not many people can offer the complete musical package of reading, writing, arranging, producing and playing at a level of excellence but “Pixs” has accomplished this with what is not only natural talent but with desire to improve and excel.

The part of Pixs that may not be seen or heard as much as it should is the vocal instrument that he also carries. The combination of Voice and Bass, takes you to another level of love and consciousness that is not common. This combination gives the term “take me away” to a whole new level. You can get caught in the magic of the moment when the music starts and the melody of the voice and other instruments begin.
