Album Notes
PJ Morton, a native New Orleans, LA, most often describes his music as "feel good music that lyrically tells stories about life and love...music that makes your heart think." This 23-year old musical prodigy is indubitably a "true" seasoned musician who has garnered a reputation for writing and producing warm, heart-felt, and infectious songs that engage the heart. His humble, yet aggressive spirit, along with his prolific musical talents have afforded him with many opportunities to "fall" comfortably into the music industry.

With PJ's background in music, it is no wonder that he has found himself right at home in the music business. Coming from a musical family and being the son of industry veteran Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., PJ got his start singing in the church. He began to play the piano at the age of eight years old and by the age of 14, he was already writing and producing. His dream of becoming an artist began to take shape while he was in high school.

Although PJ has worked hard and is continuing to persevere to gain stature in the music industry as an independent artist, he is definitely no stranger to the game. PJ can be noted for writing songs for gospel artists such as Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., Men of Standard, Ted & Sheri, William Murphy, Darwin Hobbs and Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church Mass Choir. Most recently, PJ can be cited for writing for the inspirational and insightful India.Arie. He has also had the honor of touring with well-known and well respected artist Erykah Badu.

PJ is also a member of Freestyle Nation, a band that he founded. This group consisting of four total members has proven to be quite successful, as they have been seen performing in various cities such as New Orleans and Atlanta. Freestyle Nation has had the honor of performing at several high profile events as the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

PJ attributes artists such as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Sting, Prince, Kim Burrell, James Taylor, Al Green, D'Angelo, and Paul S. Morton Sr. as being the artists who have stirred his soul and motivated him to find his voice in the music arena. With the fusion and combined richness of these great artists being heard in his music, it is no wonder that PJ is beginning to soar in the music industry!

Because of the uniqueness of PJ's music, one cannot place him in one specific category. He says it best by stating... "...Whatever genre you can stick Stevie Wonder or Sting in ....I'll take that!". PJ is destined to be to soul music what Jay Z is to Hip Hop. He has the necessary ingredients it takes to break new ground....to be a trailblazer! Without so much as a second thought, he will raise the bar in the industry! If one had to use one word to describe him, it would be FREE, because he does not worry about much. In his own words..."I just keep moving, because I know that it's not my fight anyway. So, I just do what I do and let God do the rest!!!".

I just picked up PJ's Emotions and I was BLOWN AWAY! Not since Frank McComb have I heard such a brother with so much richness in his voice. It's a throwback to the Donnie Hathaway, Steve Wonder era.

It like listening to your tears, or expressions.
The music moves your spirit. It renders a comforting feeling to know that we are all tied together by what is sometimes tugging at your heart. Emotions are real, and they somewhat dictate how we flow in life. Thats if you let it. What's so good about this album is it offers a peacefulness to what some people make chaotic. I love it!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cd you put out. I had never heard of you before I heard your cd in a friends car so I had to look you up. The lyrics and beats are just great. As a 17yr old I like what you've done with your approach because I can listen to this. Tour dates - ur concert is one i'd want to go to.

Heard about you from the UK.
This is great music. Glad to get the referrals from the UK. Roger (Soul Sorts), Paul Phillips (Solar Radio), and the Prangell Brothers (Soul Brother Records). They will never steer you wrong.

The CD is a favirote of mine. I've been listening to it again and again. You'll love it.

Music unfortunately has taken a turn for the worst these days. That was until I heard \"My Superstar\" and \"Mirror, Mirror\" by PJ Morton for the first time. This brother is truly talented and unique. I only wish that more people had access to his wonderful music. I am making sure that I shine the light on his wonderful talented for all to take notice. PJ, if I have anything to say about it.....YOU\'RE ABOUT TO BLOW UP!!!! With your music, you are able to reach not only a listening ear...but the heart and soul of true music lovers!!!! Don\'t let the industry change your beautiful music!!!!
