Musical beginnings from the everglades of Florida to the red clay of south Georgia, passing through Atlanta and on into the Great Smoky Mountains, making a side trip through the Carolinas to Virginia and Kentucky and resting in Nashville. The smell of honey suckle, a sip of a mint julep, the beauty of one red rose and the sound of fiddle and steel. That's right, you've got it...the music of PJ Steelman.
PJ's sound is kind of like Frank Sinatra meeting Janis Joplin. They were introduced to each other by Willie Nelson....at a Mickey Newberry concert. PJ is a songwriter and sings just well enough to get his songs across. If you are into singer/songwriter...where the heart hits home, you will love PJ. He is currently affiliated with Sound Determination Music and Fat Walter Music and records with Blue Cypress Records.

Real and Imaginary
author: Randy Broyles
The songs of PJ Steelman are real in the way the lyrics tell believable stories, and are not "formula" tunes written for commercial appeal. But then you turn around and the songs become imaginary in the way they take your mind on a trip with the guidance of PJ's writing. I have to admit I am a non-apologetic pedal steel fan, and the use of it is exactly as it should be. The accumulation of decades of absorbing life's ups and downs put into words that communicate so very well.

Best album of 2011
author: Jo Sproles
Every song is exceptional. PJ's voice is in top form, I can't believe how great this one. It is truly a songwriter's album, so much heart and soul. My two favorites are Rock And Roll Cowboy and A Blue October Sky. This thing never leaves my changer.
