He was born and raised in Cleveland,Ohio.He is the eldest of three children.He started to play music at a very early age.At three years old,he learned how to play the drums.By age four,he mastered playing the drums and stated playing in church.At age eight,his father,Rev.Phillip Jones,Sr.,taught him how to play the organ at the church he pastored.his father made him play because he got tired of doing all of the playing for his church.His late grandmother,Clemetine Jones,also assisted in teaching him to play the organ.At age twelve,he attended the Cleveland Music School Settlement for two years.At that time,he was the organist of his late grandfather's church,Greater Faith Baptist Church of Cleveland,Ohio.During his time there, he toured with his grandmother and father twice to Nice, France.On both tours,he played the drums.In September of 1996,he attended Cleveland Heights High School.During his time there,he played the organ and piano for the school's gospel choir.He also played drums and piano for the school's jazz ensemble.Before graduating in June of 2000,he had the privilege,in 1999, to play for the famed Gospel artist Walter Hawkins.After graduating,he attended Hampton University for one year.He moved back to Cleveland and attended Cuyahoga Community College (better known as Tri-C).During his two years there,he studied with various pianists such as Rodney Hubbard,Joe Hunter,Jackie Warren,Drene Ivy,Lafayette Carthon and a host of other great players in church.On May 27,2007,he graduated with a bachelor of music from the Oberlin Conservatory Of Music.While attending there,he studied with Dan Wall.Also while attending there,he has performed with Babbie Mason,and has recorded on Bill Ransom's debut CD called Generations.Still today,he continues to play drums,piano,organ,and bass.
