REVIEWS

the soul of indie punk

This is a great CD. I got this CD thinking I'd hear some simple teen pop punk that I'd be able to put up with while my daughter played it. Instead, she'll be lucky if I give it up!?!? Like Dookie era Green Day, but not so frenetic, in the simpleness of the sound. A lot of groups have the fun, fast, short punk part down, but the Plaid Hatters also draw you in on the slower, moodier songs. You feel singer Wendy Powell's emotions in her vocals, which hold up under repeated listening - I know as I've played this daily for 2 weeks now - as she doesn't hide behind screams or whines or gimmicks. She's real. This CD is a gem.

I've only heard 2 songs so far, but they're very great! The singer reminds me of Kay Hanley, singing "Here & Now" with her old group, Letters To Cleo! I'm gonna go buy this!
