Album Notes

"Featuring witty craft and a delight to listen to, one can sincerely feel the vibe and intent of this exuberant band. Soothing and mellow at times, Plane can bring the most healing and contemplative music, but in just a moment's notice, they can rev up and tackle the most fiery, passionate, and perhaps disturbing of their material as well, leaving the listener bedazzled. At one moment peaceful and relaxing, only to be filled with rage and animosity, this band leaves you on your feet and breathless, anxiously awaiting what comes next...."
-All Music Guide

"...Plane has grown
into a tour de force that is bubbling under the surface of the Chicago scene. They have crafted a sound that follows the blueprints of early 80's New Order without sounding retro or stale. The bands vicious live show has been filtered through a studio temperament to create tunes that are as densely layered as they are catchy." -DoneWaiting.com

Bio:
Chicago's Plane releases Shake My Ground, an album both sonically and lyrically electrifying. Subtle experimental sounds coexist dynamically with upbeat dance grooves, raw Pixies/New Order guitar hooks and infectious vocal melodies. Each song on the album tells an individual story of how a life can be changed, adding collectively to a conceptually epic album that moves the listener in more than just one way.

Shake My Ground was co-produced by band members Ed Anderson and Edgars Legzdins at Legzdins' very own Blue Room Studio in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood. The idea behind the recording was to develop each song by sonically examining each musical ray while also allowing for studio improvisation, first-take inspirations, and sudden re-arrangements. At various points, you'll hear manipulated analog tape collages, looped digital effects and layers of white noise rocking the songs in and out of place. Listeners will also notice the dual guitar work of Ed and Edgars. Reminiscent of Television, their guitars constantly weave, clash, and soar; creating a tangible dialogue that becomes a motif of the album. Though influenced by the sounds of 70's underground, new wave and punk, Plane breaks through with a fresh sound saturated with introspective lyrics, textured instrumental work and driving beats.

Plane has a sound that sticks out in the Chicago scene. While they have inherited its penchant for unabashed melody and sound manipulation, they also add a level of gritty, reckless muscle that hasn't been seen in this town for a while. For the new album, Shake My Ground, Plane has taken their blistering and occasionally disturbing live shows and created a record that exudes energy while delivering the most gratifying elements found in rock music.

A timeless cd worth holding on to. The only downside is that after listening to the "Shake My Ground" album, all other music sounds like crap.
