Planet Killers takes a death ray to the music industry paradigm that demands a neat fit into a record store bin category.
Planet Killers is Munk Duane, a well-respected producer and multi-instrumentalist who has always been able to cover a lot of musical ground, deftly mining everything from mainstream pop gold to edgy, experimental electronic jams. His sense of traditional pop songcraft is flawless, his studio savvy pure techno-magic. Such a wide range of musical inspiration may seem like a blessing, but it can also be a curse in a stuffy industry so shackled to the idea of “genre.” For this prolific artist it has been hard, at times, to explain himself musically. “Some days I want to be Rage Against The Machine,” he says, “and other days I want to BE the machine.”
Munk's new project Planet Killers, embody his exploration of electronic music's collision with rock attitude and pop sensibility, continuing the evolution that began with his solo releases "Anime Sweetheart", "Severed" and "Modest Among the Living".
