For the past few years Jeff Plankenhorn has been making a name for himself in Austin as a multi-instrumentalist with people like Ray Wylie Hubbard, Bruce Robison, Slaid Cleves and Gavin DeGraw. With the release of "Plank", his first solo album for Blue Corn Music, Jeff proves himself to be a singer/songwriter of the first order as well.
"Plank" is a stylistically diverse debut that showcases Jeff's warm vocal style and his outstanding songwriting. Elements of Tex-Mex, 60's r&b, country, even the Beach Boys show up in "Plank"'s songs and arrangements. In addition to the album's originals, Jeff pays tribute to the legendary Austin songwriter Blaze Foley by covering his " Picture Cards".
As would be expected from a "musician's musician" Plankenhorn is joined by a who's who of Austin musicians, including Eliza Gilkyson, Ian 'Mac' McLagan and producer Gurf Morlix. Jeff plays acoustic and electric guitar, dobro and pedal steel.

Plank has moved up in the world since The Bucket days. This album truly shows versatility. The lyrics are heartfelt in songs like, "What you need" and the rhythms in "Lovesick Woman" will make you want to get up and move. True talent.

Long, long anticipated CD was well worth the wait

Plank is such a great CD. I bought it off of Jeff when it first came out and I already wore it out and could use a new one. This CD is one of those rare finds that the songs weave together and leave you sewed up and smilin'. Jeff is a Master.
