Ten years strong (since 1998) and more relevant and slamming today than ever before...
Active on the scene as a live performing group since day one, Playground has featured over one hundred nationally and internationally acclaimed singers, instrumentalists, and emcees during its vibrant existence as a San FranDisco Bay Area Phenomenon.
At the core are four, sometimes more, brothers (and sisters) steadily refining and honing their skills together as pioneers in the present day fusion of Dancefloor Electronica, Live Improvisation, and Freestyle Flow.
The Playground People Album has recieved club & radio airplay throughout all seven continents!
Playground embarked on a year long studio journey to capture the energy of their live improvisational performances and the resulting album takes their sound to new levels of complexity and mass appeal. Ranging from hip-hop to breakbeat to brokenbeat, afrobeat and nu-jazz, the Playground People album touches contemporary styles while anticipating future directions of world dance floor and pop musical currents. The album features renowned guest musicians, emcees, and vocalists on every track.
With the 2006 release of Playground People, Playground transmuted their underground sound status into a new genre henceforth known as the Playground Sound.
In 2008, Playground is currently in the studio working
on a follow-up release.
