"like My Bloody Valentine taking a sunbath." - Claudio S.
I am completely fine with that description, but let's take a closer look, shall we?
The first full-length in the PLS catalog is wave after wave of big noise and thumping rhythm, tempered by a stubborn caretaker and a very serious DIY aesthetic. The album opener is deceptively stark and mesmerizing, ending in a burst of noise that means business. From there, chunks of shoegaze, punk, dream pop, and a fat dose of good ol' fashioned rock 'n' roll melt together into a shining, lush landscape: Looking Mean and Impressive.
NOTE: Every aspect of the CD version of this album is handmade. All recording, mixing, mastering, printing, duplication and assembly occurred in the artist's home, by the artist's own hand... for better or worse. While the entire album will be made available on your favorite digital download services soon, the extremely slick CD version of Looking Mean and Impressive is thus a limited edition: reprints are done manually, and once the materials are exhausted, it's gone, baby, gone. Get it while it's hot! A big thank you goes out to CDBaby for allowing the DIY indie musicians their own space in the music world. If we can do it, SO CAN YOU!
