Dawn Anita and her son Jerry Don are a mother/son duet and have been singing together for over ten years. They have a traditional country sound, and some people say they put them in mind of Conway and Loretta or David Frizzell and Shelly West. They both have strong feelings about what is happening to our Nation under the present administration, and since they are both songwriters, they decided to write a song that set forth their thoughts and depicted what they feel is happening to our country. Dawn Anita wrote the lyrics and took them to Jerry Don and asked him to write a tune, because she knew he could create a more contemporary style with an upbeat rhythm that would have broad appeal. When Jerry Don completed the tune, he brought it to Dawn Anita, and she knew that he had created the “magic” that the song needed. They went to Dallas and recorded the song at Tom Smith’s Music Studio. They had worked with Tom on many projects in the past, and were always pleased with the results. They had also worked with Milo Deering, a phenomenal musician who plays many different instruments, and he has an innate ability to capture the perfect feel for a song. He was certainly able to capture the right feel for “We’re Headed for Barack Bottom”. Just from hearing Dawn Anita sing the song accompanied by Jerry Don, he put his special touch to the music and production and created an extraordinary piece of music that fit the song exactly. His music tracks set the mood, and when Dawn Anita and Jerry Don put down their vocals, a special product was created that will appeal to all ages. The lyrics, production, vocals and mix all bring this song to life. Dawn Anita and Jerry Don hope that the message in this song will be instrumental in helping people to realize what is happening to this country. Our country was founded on freedom and liberty, but if this administration continues to take our nation down the path it’s headed, the American people will not recognize the end result.
