Album Notes

The Plungers are a 7 piece surf instrumental group featuring 2 lead guitars, rhthym guitar, baritone and 12 string guitar, six string bass guitar, 4 string bass guitar and drums. All guitars are electric and mostly vintage Fenders. No acoustic guitars or keyboards are allowed.

The songs are short (2-3 minutes) with well thought out arrangements and production. Intertwining melodies abound with driving rhthyms. Tempos vary and a few slow songs are in the mix.

The band's main influences are The Ventures, The Astronauts, The
Shadows, Los Straightjackets, The Surfaris. Link Wray, Duane Eddy, and Slacktone.

Phil Dirt of Reverb Central says, "Well, you're just not going to be let down here! The fourth album from The Plungers is a magnificent merger of surf and desert and exotica. These tracks seem like they simply must end up on a soundtrack. Their knack for superb juxtapositions and their sense of ensemble are simply superb. 5 stars!"

Dan Forte of Vintage Guitar magazine says, " Along with Belairs founder Paul Johnson and Finland's Laika and The Cosmonauts, The Plungers are most responsible for riding surf music into the 21st century faithfully and creatively. With The Band That Time Forgot their fourth album of instrumentals in five years, they just keep getting better and better,"

DO NOT forget this band!

The Plungers are a rock instrumental band, that I love! In fact, this may be their best cd yet. You'll hear the surf trad sound, the Ventures,Davie Allan and even The Rolling Stones!! The rockers rock, and the ballads are beautiful. There's not one bad tune on the disc, and almost all are written by The Plungers. Another plus for this disc, new instro tunes. The rockers (Marauder/Kong,etc) will get you rockin and the ballads (Surfwalk/Friendly Persuasion) are just too beautiful. I gave this cd the max...5 stars because it deserves it.

The epitome of the instro/surf genre

Like all of The Plungers CDs, this one is also loaded with a ton of great guitar driven instros. Cool tunes, great fun.
