Sometimes indie, sometimes twee, sometimes pop, always wonderful. Plural is about the songs that get stuck in your head and wishing the world knew about it. Or, maybe just a secret for yourself.

Album Notes

Plural isn't gonna make you sweat. They don't want you to. Their appetite for strong harmonies and sensitive melodies blend smoother than cream corn and applesauce. One taste and you'll call your mom.

Born out of a long, hard working 8 years in the "almost was" ska/punk band, Buck-O-Nine, Scott Kennerly and drummer Jeff Hawthorne teamed up with singer/songwriter John Meeks to form the beginings of Plural. Joined on violin by Mary Forrest, they recorded their debut record, "Have A Rad Summer".

While their sound has been compared to that of Lifes Rich Pagaent era R.E.M, you will also hear glimpses of indie rock, california pop and alt country. Diverse, yes, but grouded in strong songwriting with an emphasis on melody and mood. Take a listen, and enjoy.

I remember finishing a final and wanting nothing more than to drop into my papasan chair and listen to an R.E.M. album. It was so relaxing after the rigors of college exams. Some thirteen years later Plural's album, "Have A Rad Summer", gives me much the same feeling of relaxation, the ability to unwind, after a long day at the computer. Simply suitable, heartfelt lyrics stay with you long after the disc stops spinning. I find myself humming along to "Never Again", and actually singing the simple refrain "...don't leave me...you need me...I won't hurt your heart..." made all the more powerful and poignant by the restrained passion of the vocals.
