PLUSMINUS X – THE BAND

Born in Poland and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, brothers Peter and Martin Bak have been playing music together since the age of twelve. With the addition of guitarist Jim O’Neil, and their third brother, Patrick Bak filling in on bass guitar, they began writing their own music. After a few limited band attempts, and a rotating door of additional members, the brothers found vocalist Justin Forsyth in late January 2005. Justin was fronting another successful band at the time, who had already opened for Social Code and Thornley, and upon meeting him, he was asked to audition for the band with a few songs he had written to. The guys liked what they heard, and Justin was asked to join the band. He accepted the spot, and they got to work right away. They spent the next several months in the Bak brothers' personal home-based studio, avidly writing their debut EP, for what would be the rebirth of Plusminus X. The EP came together so naturally, and fluidly, that it was aptly titled "Natural Process".

Plusminus X released the entirely self-produced and highly anticipated "Natural Process" on May 20th 2005, to an eager crowd of Two-hundred-plus people, and have since sold over 1000 copies of the EP.

After a string of Extremely successful shows in 2005, including direct supporting spots for Thornley, The Dirty Americans, and Jody Raffoul, and with the popularity of their EP backing them up, and 95.1 FM, "The Rock" spinning their tracks "Everytime" and "Shackles" on the weekly indie show, The guys decided to head back into the studio to write a full length album in late 2005.

Several months of writing would pass, as their album grew from 9 tracks to a blistering 14. Anticipation was building not only in the fans, but in the guys themselves. After an album creation that can be stated as no less than enduring, Plusminus X finally had their Full Length album, entitled "State of Mind". This album, like their EP, was again, completely self-produced. Everything, including the lyrics, composing, producing, recording, and complete album artwork was done by Plusminus X. Finally, after months of waiting, "State of Mind" was released to the eager public, at a SOLD OUT CD release party on March 10th, 2006.

On the high of their newly released album, Plusminus X continued to be completely self managed, marketed and promoted. Although having an agreement with a manager at the time, it was called off quickly due to internal differences. They were picked up by several internet-based radio stations, including Partytown.com and Radio3x.com, as well as cementing a spot in 95.1 FM's indie show every week. They continued to roll full steam ahead, collecting a non-stop chain of successful sold out shows, and amassing a very large fan base in the process. Plusminus X has proven themselves to be a force to reckon with.

In November 2006, Plusminus X was chosen as a FEATURED ARTIST on Myspace.com. With NO widespread radio play, national exposure, tour, record label, booking agency or manager to speak of. They are currently breaking upwards of 20,000 song plays per day, and gaining momentum at a stellar rate. These guys are definitely something to watch for in the coming months.

PLUSMINUS X – THE MUSIC

Plusminus X’s music is rock/hard rock that spawned its unique sound from the various musical tastes that each band member possesses. Their influences range from Classic rock, all the way through to New-age experimental rock, metal, and everything in between. Being praised by many as bordering upon a new sound, their edge pulls listeners in with undeniable hooks, and keeps them there with solid melodies and lyrics. No corner is cut in the composing of their music, and their explosive music proves just that.

The live show Plusminus X brings to the stage is pure energy from beginning to end, with enough twists and turns to keep even the most critical viewer entertained. Balancing a delicate mix of in-your-face, pedal-to-the-floor energy, with mellow, emotional interludes, Plusminus X has created a show that is hard to beat. The band performs each show like it’s their last, and the connection between the members on stage and the confidence they show comes from the years of experience each of them possess.

Through the past 2 years of performing together, Plusminus X has maintained their reputation of being a band “For the People”. Focusing just as much on their fans as on their craft, they have managed to develop a very loyal and driven fan base. They reach out to their fans at every show, and make them leave feeling like they were part of the show, not just there to see a band. It’s something that needs to be seen to be understood.

Plusminus X is composed of very experienced, highly driven musicians who sincerely enjoy writing music, and performing live. They continue to perform live in Windsor, and surrounding areas, and hope to expand their fan base and their experience by performing live across Canada and the US.
