Album Notes

Pete Madsen's new CD focuses on the styles of early Delta Blues and Ragtime from such composers as Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson and Scott Joplin, as well as six original compositions. On this recording Pete pays tributes to musicians from the late 19th and early 20th century, playing slide, 12 string guitar and providing a rhythmic bounce to music that has always been full of the essential elements of American music. The traditional sounds emanating from his National Style O Resonator and Taylor 12 string guitars will place the listener into a realm of music sometimes forgotten, yet when heard is met with knowing smiles of this is what it is all about!

Pete Madsen is a San Francisco Bay Area based musician. He plays regularly in establishments such as the Jupiter in Berkeley, The Marin Brewing Company and Momi Toby?s Revolution Café in San Francisco. In addition, he teaches finger-style guitar at The 5th String in Berkeley and has provided articles and lessons for Acoustic Guitar Magazine. His first acoustic CD, The House of Pete blends Delta-style Blues with some modern influences from players such as Leo Kottke and Peter Finger.

I cannot take this cd out of my cars player; I must have played it ten times in a row. It sounds so natural and free from clutter. A real breath of fresh air from all the over processed stuff knocking about. Well done Pete; I have got to find out what the guitar is you are using it sounds great.
