Album Notes

Staffan Johansson and Peter Murphy first met in the fall of 1999. After half an hour in rehearsal, they performed their first gig together in a small club in stockholm and have just kept going on ever since. Wanting to add a bit more diversity to their music, they decided to call the best. Stefan Cronebck had been playing with Staffan before and Andreas Nordell with Peter and by springtime 2000, Peter Murphy's Carver Combo was a fact. Very quickly everything fell into place and they developed a way of making music that was both fast, rewarding and very exiting. Peter writes the songs and the whole band brings what they've got to the arrangements. With Andreas inventive upright bass playing and beautiful backing vocals, Stefan's dynamic drumming and Staffan's characteristic and unpredictable guitar playing combined with Peters songs, they found a sound of their own. This sound has been described in various ways and will hopefully continue to be described in various ways. Even though having many songs is one of the strengths with this band, it can make it difficult when it comes to picking out the right ones for a debut album. After playing the clubs in Stockholm (one highlight being a gig with Rufus Wainright) for about a year and a half, making demos and plans our boys entered the Eastman Studio in 2003 to record "One sin between me & the Lord". With a little financial help from Sony Publishing and a truckload of help from their co-producer Jerker Eklund it was finished a year later. The record is full of guest musicians and one of them, the fabulous Markus Olsson, who plays sax and bass clarinet on the album, is now a permanent member of the band, adding further to the Carver Combo sound with his feverish organ playing. A man of many talents! So with Markus in the band and a brand new record up their sleeve, I give you: Peter Murphy's Carver Combo.

call upon the choir, because the church of peter murphy's carver combo is in service! this album has sounds to save your soul and verses that speak deep from the dark directly into your heart. you'll drown in beats beautiful enough for baptism, you'll find peace in lyrics lovely as prayers, and from start to finish the album is a ride resembling that of a resurrection in the world of music today. a sweet and stellar sacrament for well beyond the ears...
