Album Notes

If you have ever been to Alta, Utah, then you know about its absolutely spectacular Vista as part of the Wasatch Mountain Range. This splendid terrain offers great inspiration for creating music. The area is truly quite diversified... Massive granite cliffs line the canyon walls on the way to meadows of purple wild flowers that lead to the crystal-blue Cecret Lake where sounds of nature are bounced around and around, echoing throughout this little piece of paradise on earth.

I'm very proud of "Alta Vista" and the emotions it seems to evoke. It's diversified in its own right. I find it to be really thrilling to start with a single idea for a piano track, add strings, percussion, brass, lead lines, effects and eventually arrive at the finished musical contribution. It makes me think of the way that Alta must have come together, one element at a time.

Also... I'm very impressed with the cover photo of Alta by Rod Millar. He used a specially designed 360 degree camera to capture the beauty of the region then computer enhanced the image by taking out modern day roads and buildings to create an "Alta Vista" of one million years ago. Very nice!

All music on "Alta Vista" was captured by the incredibly full, rich instrumentation of one keyboard, the Rolland XP-80 Synthesizer.
It's fabulous!
