notes

THE BAND
Evan Stone >> drums
Dustin Diamond >> bass
Scott Ireland >> guitar
Rosebud >> vocals

Formed by drummer Evan Stone in 2001, a combination of four very unique individuals gave birth to a pioneering new sound called Salty The Pocketknife.

Salty the Pocketknife takes progressive/ new-thing rock to the next level. You simply have to get a drummer of the caliber of Evan Stone in order to maneuver through very crisp and effective grooves and odd time changes; changes which certainly make their music original and absolutely left of center.

Apply the masterful technique and oddity of Scott Ireland on guitar and what you will find are melodic ear bending harmonies and lush chordal interplay that provides a strong basis for the Salty sound. Combine that with the searing vocals of Rosebud, who has been favorably compared with Fiona Apple, Chrissie Hynde and others, and you will be on the edge of your seat eagerly awaiting her next boisterous rant. Hear Rosebud just once and you will undoubtledly recognize her unique voice the very next time you hear it anywhere.

Finally, add Dustin Diamond on bass guitar, and you will get the complete, rounded and earth rumbling sound which makes up Salty the Pocketknife.

"Salty The Pocketknife powerfully demonstrates the ability to turn rock on its ear, fusing spoken word and melodic choruses, while juxtaposing well-played riffs with Rosebud's authentic and edgy delivery. Think of Patti Smith meeting Beth Orton." - - Orange County Register

  • It's actually ipod worthy!
    author: Chino

I haven't bought a CD from CD baby in years but this one is not too shabby. It's different and worth taking up space on my ipod. Who would have thought that a spur of the moment search for pics of Justine Bateman would take me to a page of child actors, which mentioned this bands basist and Voila I stumble upon some new music.

  • What up Screech?
    author: jethro dupree

This CD is pretty phat. I like pissing outside. Yo Dustin, come peep my myspace page, we can do a hip-hop colab and blow up big time. it's weird, i grew up watching your show EVERYDAY--and now we sell our CD at the same place. i can't wait to watch your new video. holla. This CD is wonderfully strange. buy it, and then buy mine!

  • NOW THIS IS CREATIVE PROGRESSIVE MUSIC!!!!!!!
    author: Tom Argo

At first I had no words to describe this cd. Now I cannot stop playing it!!!! This is like Mr. Bungle with a female singer. It's proggy, yet melodic, silly at times, yet enjoyable!!!! Get this while you can!!!!!
