About Point Blanc

Point Blanc made his debut in the Malaysian music industry as part of hip hop group Poetic Ammo. Poetic Ammo was one of the first Malaysian hip hop acts to achieve commercial success and recognition. The group has won a number of AIMs, including Best English Album for “It’s A Nice Day To Be Alive” and Best Music Video for “Who Be The Player”. They have released a total of three albums to date, “It’s A Nice Day To Be Alive” (1999), “The World is Yours” (2000), and “Return Of The Boombox” (2003).

In 2001, Point founded rap-rock band Pop Shuvit. The group’s debut album “Take It And Shuvit” was well received, garnering a 2001 AIM nomination for Best New Artiste.

After taking a brief hiatus from the music industry, Point returned to the local music scene in 2005 by setting up his own record label and artiste management company, Voyeur Records. In 2007, Point released his solo debut album, “Straight To The Point”. The first single, Ipohmali, is one of the most played and talked about Malaysian songs of 2007, and the music video has been viewed over 100,000 times on the internet since its release in April 2007.

IT’S TIME TO GET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT!
Point Blanc’s debut album “Straight to the Point” In Stores Now!

The wait is FINALLY over. Voyeur Records presents one of the most anticipated Malaysian albums of the year, Point Blanc’s solo debut album, "Straight to the Point". An epic album of 14 songs and 26 tracks, this tri-lingual (Chinese, English & Bahasa Malaysia) album attempts to elevate Malaysian/Asian hip hop to the next level.

Featuring the No. 1 hit single Ipohmali and street anthem KL Lheng Chai, this album guest stars Hong Kong hip hop icon:- MC Yan of LMF, Malaysian Idols:- Jaclyn Victor, Vick Teoh & Paul Moss, Project Superstars:- John Wee, Des & Jane, Malaysian Hip hop stars:- The Fabulous Cats, KLG Sqwad, Emcee David, IVI, Caprice, Wordsmanifest & many more. Produced by Point Blanc & Voyeur Records's beatmaking prodigy, Major R.E., this album promises Malaysian urban music of the highest standards.

“Straight to the Point” has been two years in the making, and the final result is an album that sets out to defy convention with its unique Chinese/English content. From Chinese hip hop tracks like Meng Wan and Banana to a modern twist on Sudirman classic Hujan and of course, English hip hop anthems like Show’s Over and So Fly, “Straight to the Point” is a truly Malaysian product with something for everyone.

Says Point, “Straight to the Point is very autobiographical. Each song was inspired by personal experiences in my life, and especially the last 10 years of being in the music business. I decided from the beginning that this was going to be a tri-lingual album, because I wanted to show that hip-hop isn’t about emulating African American rappers and lifestyles, but it’s an art form that can be expressed in every language and culture”

not bad.. i realli like the cantonese songs, not realli feeling the english songs.. as i have heard plenty of english rappers from USA already.. but cantonese rap is quite rare, and something new and fresh.. which made me cop the album.. hope his next album is 100% cantonese/mandarin/hokkien. In his "banana" song he mentions that he doesnt know mandarin so he cant enter Taiwan market. But Taiwan market is very enterable.. just rap in hokkien.. bcoz most of taiwan can understand hokkien. peace out ..

This album is just better than all his previous albums (with Poetic Ammo) put to

Being a loyal fan of Point Blanc since his days in Poetic Ammo, I have to say, 10 years of experience really paid off. This album is just better than all his previous albums (with Poetic Ammo) put together. His tracks are really catchy. It's hip hop, with a taste of Malaysia.Lyrics are so meaningful, even if you do not understand it(the cantonese ones) it's still catchy!! Crazily good mix of the beats, smart collaboration with other local artists. This is truly a Malaysian album to be proud of!
