Album Notes

Cheo (Jose Jurado) is a Puerto Rican born percussionist/drummer living and working in Seattle. He tours the world and has backed many well known funk/jazz bands as drummer/percussionist over the years (Kool and The Gang, Mandrill, Earth Wind and Fire). Guitarist and composer, Richard Knowles (www.richknowles.com), is a respected and established Vancouver, Canada guitarist and composer with years of working and touring experience playing guitar and bass guitar world-wide. Also featuring Vancouver musicians Jane Deans on keyboards, Anthony "Tone" Prosk (flutnik@hotmail.com) on flute and Mary Burns on alto saxophone.
Setting a live sound for the album "RAIN" right from the first track, "Rush Hour, sets a tone of raw melody and rhythm. Rhythmic and melodic it has a 'bluesy feel' that fuses the jazz and blues sound of the northern west coast that are reminiscent of the outdoors and laid back days found in Seattle Washington and Vancouver B.C.. Song names like "Vancouver Nights" and "Low Fat Soy Cappuccino" reflect their roots: the northwest. The latinesque, "Esta Bosa" reflects on the Puerto Rican background of Cheo combined with Richard's upbringing in latin countries in South America where he spoke only spanish until 6 years of age. The guitar piece, Sabrena, was written after the death of a family friend, Sabrena Wilson, who sent this song back. This album is dedicated to assisting Diabetes research.
