Stunning record, can't wait to see 'em live! AGAIN!

When I heard Poitin in their first outing, "Barley Mash", I was stunned by the sparkling guitar chords and acrobatic fiddle work. But now, with "Winter Brew", Poitin has once again defied my expectations, crashing through the glass ceiling so many trad Irish bands find themselves limited by, and leaping over the twists, turns, and hurdles of the genre like so much shamrock in the field. This album really made me want to break out the ol' shillelagh and just ROCK OUT. Just recently I heard that Poitin will be returning to the MN Irish fair on Harriet Island in St. Paul to once again regale us with their fine music. I can't wait to see them...especially Mike (he's the cute one!!)

A tribute to the genre
author: Jefferson Wilmington III
"Now there's an awful lot to be said about this.....Irish tradition and folk-lore...." Or so Seamus Ennis so eternally incanted ages past. Were his soul among us today, he would no doubt think highly of Poitin. A band of artists that keep the sound of Irish Traditional music alive like no one save for the Chieftains. Poitin is an asset to the modern musical landscape, and as a connoisseur of ethnic music, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
