POLLYANNA BUSH
A brief interview on the release of her CD
"Dying to be Born"
After two years in production Pollyanna Bush has emerged from the recording studio blinking and satisfied with her debut album, "Dying to Be Born."
"I love the way it sounds," she says as she stretches like a cat in the sun on the couch in her Marin County home.
And what does it sound like?
Imagine the instrumental power of Tori Amos; the insightful lyrics and rocking groove of Peter Gabriel; the power-pipes of Jonatha Brooke; and the soaring melodies of an early Joni, then you will have some idea - both, of her influences, and her own unique sound.
"While in production, I thought that the songs might be too different from each other - that they cut across too many genres. But each song has it's own personality... the songs insisted on having their own way with me... and all of the musicians."
"Anyway, everyone's saying they love the way this CD has such an eclectic variety of sounds and emotional experiences."
And it does.
From her first track, "Dying to be Born,"a tale of two lovers being purified in the "crucible of love," to her last, "Lotus Flower," in which she delights in the sensual/sexual discovery of being the lotus flower of perfection, Pollyanna's passion, highly sophisticated musicianship, and hard-earned wisdom shine through.
She says "Dying to be Born" is her journey in the deepest sense of the word: her own tale of love and loss, redemption and joy.
"Every moment in the album is intensely personal... maybe, that touches the universal," Pollyanna says. "I'm always touched and amazed by peoples' varying interpretations of my songs... I feel I've done my job well when listeners can make the CD their own personal journey... not just mine."

More refreshing sounds from the SF Bay Area
author: Edo Castro Bassist and Composer
Now I don't want to sound region centric but I think the SF Bay area is home to some of the finest and best Singer-songwriters. Pollyanna happens to be on my top Ten List of personal favorites from the Bay Area. Pollyanna rocks and bares her soul on this CD and there's no question about her artistic authenticity: She can sing. From the first Track "Dying to be born," you know she's taking names. It won't be long before the rest of the world catches on. Refreshing...
