Album Notes

Karen Page first debuted her original material in the mid 90’s as singer and guitarist for Boise band Substructure, who came from the same pool as Built To Spill and Caustic Resin. Substructure debuted as Built To Spill’s opener in summer of ’94. Page also performed original material with Boise bands Pop Tart and Manic High (both included members of grunge band Dirt Fishermen). In 2000, Page moved to Portland to perform as a solo artist.

Page completed a full-length Substructure cd in1995 and a full-length Manic High cd in 2000, and the newly completed ep, \"Run Little Boy\", with contributions from members of Everclear, Camaro Hair, Built To Spill, The Imprints and Mission 5. The ep, is produced by Karen Page and Imprints singer/James Low drummer Rob Stroup.

Polly High’s current lineup, fronted by Page, includes bassist Brooks Schaper (Amongst Us), guitarist Ben Brown (Dehaviland), and drummer Joe Evers (Penelope Purejoy/Pilar French). Brown’s superior ear for music takes Page’s songs to a higher level, with Beatle-esque guitar hooks and melodies that stay in your head for days after the show. Schaper and Evers follow up with a classically solid rhythm section.

Polly High\'s music is often described as folk meets the Cure meets indie rock. The band is diverse, the music is sincere, and the performance is a worthwhile adventure.
