Album Notes

Performers!

Are you looking for an exciting showcase for your dynamic singing talent? This collection of backing tracks (music without vocals) from ON-THE-LOOSE DREAMS, the award-winning CD from POMES IN A PAIL, is for you.

Featuring a lively mix of musical styles, from jazzy to pop-ish to bluesy to Broadway-bound, and always flat-out fun, these songs are perfect for that big audition, the school play, voice lessons, or for that young singer just starting out in her bedroom.

Inspired by Alexander Jenny’s memorable poems-turned-lyrics (available free at www.PomesinaPail.com/music.html, and in the booklet accompanying the original album) and written by multi-award-winning composers Karena Mendoza and Stephanie Snow, with arrangements by Emmy-winning producer/arranger Ed Tossing.

A single backing track typically sells for $10 to $15. With this specially priced digital collection, you get backing tracks for all 14 songs from the original album. In addition, three songs (Imagin’Nation, On-The-Loose Dream, Needa Wanna Gotta Have it) are provided in a second, alternate version containing background vocals, for a total of 17 tracks.

Give yourself the winning edge with this musical extravaganza!

About POMES IN A PAIL:

South African Native Karena Mendoza is an award-winning composer and former opera singer. In 2004 she won Best Song Writing at the New York International Fringe Festival for Africa & Plumbridge. Mendoza is Artist in Residence at the Riverside Presbyterian Church, and Musical Director for the Art Miles Mural project.

Stephanie Snow honed her songwriting skills in Nashville and workshops at Theatre Building Chicago. But she credits her knack for knowing what kids like to her eight years of teaching piano to the children of Northbrook and raising sons Max and Ian.

Poet/lyricist Alexander Jenny is currently locked away in a cabin in the northwoods, hard at work on a story with a happy ending.

Ed Tossing has arranged and conducted string and bass ensembles on two platinum CDs by Styx and one by Dennis DeYoung. His keyboard credits include recordings by Barbara Streisand, Peter Cetera, Burt Bacharach, Harry Nilsson, Jerry Butler, Gene Chandler and numerous gospel artists for CGI. Ed is the recipient of two Emmys for songwriting, arranging and producing of several children's television specials starring his wife and producer/co-writer Gaia Tossing.
