Album Notes

Poor Benny plays old time string band music with Clayton Schanilec, fiddle, David Furniss, guitar, and Corey Mohan, on banjo. The Poor Benny repitoire includes traditional fiddle tunes, vocal numbers from such legendary performers as Clarence Ashley, Uncle Dave Macon and Charlie Poole as well as traditional percussive dance.

“Make you want to dance fiddling…Nice selection of tunes and songs, some familiar and some obscure…A little something for everyone.” – Brad Leftwitch

“Well executed ensemble sense of rhythm…when they put the time where they want it on a tune, it will stay there. The players are all strong and sure of themselves, individually yet also work well together.” – Old Time Herald Review

“We got the CD yesterday and listened to it right away. Great selection of songs and tunes, nice balance of vocals and instrumental, good playing and sound mix. A job well done.” – Bob Bovee

“This album is the one I pop into the player every time I’m working in the kitchen…It has been full of fresh delights each time…There is a back-porch truth and poignance, that I love in their singing.” – Sue West - wildfruitfolkmusic.com
