This is a raw live recording of Pop Poppins performing at The Hop, Ft. Worth, Texas, 1992. Bootleg quality. At the time, The Hop was a small club (about 100 capacity) but has since been expanded and renamed as The Aardvark. Pop Poppins originated in Saginaw, Texas, and was an infuential staple in the Deep Ellum underground music scene in Dallas, Texas, throughout the 1990's. This show was recorded directly to cassette by the talented Gary Burkhart, who also produced the first album by Pop Poppins, "The Lover."

I and my father, Gary Burkhart, produced this...
author: John Burkhart
I was one of the house engineers at the Hop in 1992, when this was recorded. My father, Gary Burkhart, engineered the live recording, and he and I mastered the performance years later while working for a recording studio in Arlington, TX, shortly before he passed away. While I wish someone had informed me that this was to be released as a CD, and while I would liked to have received production credit (8 track analog, with a lot of bleed... I still think the guitar is a little too low in the mix, but I never had a chance to fix it), I am extremely happy to see that so many people enjoy it. The track order has been altered, and three cover songs are missing (probably for obvious reasons regarding royalty payments to the Beatles, Judas Priest, and Led Zeppelin), but other than that, minus a very new (if not first time performance) track to their set, Gotta Lotta Lovin. Glad y'all enjoy it. Very good friends of mine, Pop Poppins, and a very fun performance to see, record, and mix for cd. Thanks.

All of the pop poppins favorites on one CD--this is great! I think the production is really well done. The vocals are really solid. I love it.

Of course I wish it was the entire uninterrupted show. Regardless, as someone who went to countless poppins shows, this is truly appreciated. thanks
