Album Notes

Simultaneously intense and whimsical, "The Power Of Three" from Tuscon, Arizona trio The Pork Torta, is a CD thick with greasy grooves and fat, thundering bass. With 20 tracks of pure energy and power, the dusty desert rock sounds on this CD are sure to leave you "musically inebriated".

The Pork Torta go back to a golden age where, from the magic of the Mexico City swampmeet, or tiangius, they glean the cream of the third world sound.

They go far to the side, practicing musical techniques that the meek and the 'goal oriented' run from. They go far into the future, outlining the sketches of the 21st century hits.

Most importantly, they go directly to the center of your mind. The Pork Torta - catch them live in your town and follow their advice when they say: STEP UP AND TAKE A HIT FROM OUR RIFF-PACĀ©!

The Pork Torta: the power of three CD Review It's kinda hard to describe The Pork Torta...the words 'jerky', 'grovvy', and 'heavy' all come to mind, though by this I do not mean to imply that the Torta are either some hippy band or Overcoat-like 60's retro outfit. Au contraire! The Pork Torta are groove laden rock of the highest order. The bass is heavy, the guitar is loopy, the drumming mind-boggling and the tapes yummy. Few adjectived do justice to the sound. SPAM, however comes to mind-you don't know exactly what's in it, but it sure is tasty! I can, anyway, tell you who's in the band: Chris Cilla plays bass and sings, a fella by the name of Lucas drums and sings and a guy named Ian plays guitar. There are also guest appearences by Johnny Balls, Bob Log, and others. When I saw them live a couple of weeks ago, they left me in total awe. They were just as visually, uh...stunning as they were musically inembriating. Any way you slice it, this is great stuff. And it was recorded at home, even.
