The Early Years:
Born in Warren, Ohio, both brothers spent 13 years there with their parents and an older brother and sister. In 1981, their father's job-promotion took them to the Chicago area. Music has always been a part of their lives for as long as they can remember. From singing to 45's and 78's on their mum's old record player, to purchasing their first 8-track tape, Lynn Anderson, at their next door neighbor's garage sale, music was ever-present. (Joe still has his 8-track player in working order). Throughout the years, they've played in a number of bands, but always together. In 1996, they were one of four bands chosen to play in the Taste of Chicago's Country Fest. Joe and David relocated to Nashville in 1997, where The Porter Brothers are pursuing their lifelong dream, a career in music.

Let me start by saying that I was not much of a country music fan before I listened to this CD. I have been converted. The Porter Brothers' sound is very original, offering a country feel with a touch of rock & roll. It's rare when you can recommend a CD to people of all music tastes, but that is the case with The Porter Brothers latest release.

I'm not a huge fan of country music so when my friend told me to give the Porter Brothers a listen I was a little hesitant. To my surprise I loved every song on the CD. They definitely have a country sound, but the rock edge is what makes them so unique. I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys listening to great music.
