The Positively Testcard are South London's greatest exponents of kwela - South African penny-whistle jive - which is probably the world's happiest and most uplifting music. Originally played on the street in the 50's and 60's by whistlers and guitarist, the Testcards have revved up and updated this happy music while still remaining faithful to the joyously bright, live smiling spirit of the true kwela groove.
"Gas Up My Hotrod Stoker, The Kwela Groove Frenzy's Hit Town!", to give it its full title, features a collection of toe-tapping new songs and covers, all paying homage to the kwela style of the original era but with our 21st Century twist - officially coined as 'afroskankabilly' by the cognoscenti.
Dave Woodhead (veteran of Billy Bragg's early years), Adam Keelan, Chris Morgan, and Mario Guarnieri , with a plethora of musical chums, serve up a heady mix that will have you dancing all night.
