DAVE POTTS '$12.99'
The long awaited follow-up to Dave's critically acclaimed 'One Night In The South', $12.99 is Dave's 8th CD, and the 3rd collaboration with producer Rob Seals. $12.99 features stunning acoustic arrangements, in the mold of Alison Krauss and Union Station and other folk/bluegrass groups. The CD contains 10 new songs as well as remakes of 2 of Dave's most popular songs, 'Ferris Wheel' and 'Amanda Bramlett'. 'Amanda Bramlett' was the first place winner in the folk/roots category of the 2005 International Acoustic Music Awards. The songwriting themes on the new CD see Dave branching out to new territory, with songs covering topics from minor league baseball and the current steroid scandal to a tribute to our soldiers and weighing the cost of freedom. As always, Dave's smooth vocals and acoustic guitar are the centerpieces for his trademark songs, stories of life and love in the south. Guest musicians include Dave's longtime friend and collaborater Ryan Brown on percussion, Amy Farris on fiddle, Sean Hurley (of Verical Horizon) on upright bass, and Kat Bode (of EastMountain South) on harmony vocals.

A singer/songwriter with pleasing melodies and a poet’s eye for detail, the music of Dave Potts is contemporary folk, with shades of country and americana, infused with Southern charm. His sincere songwriting has been recognized with countless awards and accolades, but it is the combination of his music and humorous, magnetic stage presence that define Dave as an artist. Through years of paying his dues in coffeehouses and college bars, he honed his craft, both as a musician and performer. He has become a prominent performer in the house concert and listening room venues of the modern folk music scene, where he is developing a loyal following throughout the country.

While his roots are clearly based in folk music, he is equally at home in a variety of venues. His songwriting themes and accessible style cover a wide spectrum, as noted in a review of his newest CD, $12.99, by CD Baby; “His influences aren't surprising (David Wilcox, James Taylor, John Denver) but there is a definite reach beyond genre here, even while his music fits comfortably both within folk and country. That reach is one of unhindered, inspired musicality embodied within music that feels like it was always yearning to be written.”

After growing up in Denver, Dave spent several years living out of the back of his dusty red pickup truck, typically logging over 50,000 miles a year, touring from coast-to-coast.
In 1996, Dave stumbled across the picturesque town of Auburn, Alabama. It didn’t take long for him to realize he had found his home. Since settling in Alabama, his songs have shed light on the endearing characters and small towns of the South. Whether showing the world through the eyes of a career minor league ballplayer, or the spouse of a soldier overseas, Dave brings his stories to life with what Dirty Linen Magazine calls, “lines that will tug at even the most jaded heart.” His hometown newspaper, The OA News, describes his music well by saying, “Potts is at the top of his game when singing about the mundane splendor of small-town life; those stolen moments we so often overlook.”
