Album Notes

Pounce International was formed in 1991 by Paul Campbell as an experimental music project with a goal of making more emotional and musical electronic music. Pounce International was started in the studio, where it mostly lives even today. The goal of doing emotional and thought provoking compositions that where either instrumental or even filled with catchy vocal hooks has set the tone for the songs that followed. Pounce International initially appeared on compilation CD's with cruder earlier compositions as it developed a recognizable singular style.

In 1995, Pounce International was signed to Furnace Records, a division of Silent Records. Furnace was an experimental industrial offshoot of Silent Records, and the music still had an edgier tone to it. The first full length CD released in February 1996 titled  "The Populace Oracle". It was made with the talented vocals of Sou Broskowitz and guitar treatments by Chris Seifert, who also did some engineering work  on the project.

It was a critical success, and a nice real start for the project. In additional compilation appearances, Robb Jarrett added help on drums. That group of players were the key musicians in the project. Newer compositions have been based more in spacious layered electronic sounds, and less of the acoustic drums or electric guitar has been introduced. The studio space for Pounce International became greatly expanded to accomodate staying in studio and working in that controlled complex atmosphere. Pounce International has concentrated on the musicality and layered quality of the new compositions, and the next full length release  will show off the exotic textures and moody compositions being created by this signifigant electronic act. The online MP3's hint at what's to come.

Cool, sophisticated multi dimensional synth music !
author: John Selack
Pounce International defies expectations with it's genre breaking CD The Populace Oracle. It moves from ambient synth soundscapes to beat heavy dance tracks. It is ambient electronic material, but defies expectations. The programming is untouchable and the female vocals are a rare treat. This CD is one that every electronic music fan should own.
