Album Notes
2065 Flying Fingers is an amazing instrumental guitar album, composed and performed by the number one Chinese axeman Powell Young. Young is currently teaching Er-Hu and oriental traditional percussion at the Beijing Chinese Opera college, where he also developed his own guitar skills and found a way to mix Chinese traditional music with shred, fusion and heavy metal. As a guitarist, Powell is influenced by virtuosos such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Gary Moore, Frank Gambale, Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe, Ritchie Kotzen and Jason Becker. On October 10, 2002, Powell opened for Satriani, jammed with Joe at his Taipei live concert, and got to show his incredible guitar technique in front of 2000 guitar fans. Powell Young is the first Chinese guitarist to become offered an endorsement deal with Musicman Guitars. Highly recommend by Joe Satriani.

2065 Flying Fingers
Songs actually drag you in. Makes the room spin and imagination dance. Love it!

The short version...AWESOME
Powell is an incredible guitarist. The Flying Fingers cd rocks out. I listened to this 3 times in a row and made myself turn it off so my neighbors wouldn't kill me. Buy this, put it in and TURN IT UP!

It's Good
This guy is an amazing talent with a personalized technical and emotive approach, and comparing artists is inherently problematic, but it is fun to try anyway. Some of his songs are Satrianiesk (is that a word). For example, Run To Space starts out very much like Crushing Day, Flying Fingers reminds me of Midnight, and Screaming In The Storm begins like Time Machine before taking a completely different direction.
If you like eastern influenced melodies and rhythms you should look into Powell's work. To be sure, he's very heavily blues influenced, but he sneaks in some oriental style and delivery too. I like it more and more as time goes on.
My copy has some minor glitches in the beginning of the 1st song, but it plays through them.
All in all, this is a great CD.

Master Shredder
Fantastic instrumental rock album.
A rockin' good time from the Chinese master of metal.
