Album Notes

Premik is a flutist-saxophonist-composer-arranger and producer. He has worked with Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Narada Michael Walden, and Lonnie Liston-Smith among others. He is equally at home in popular, jazz, R&B, new age and experimental styles. His composing credits also include music for sports documentaries, sketch comedies and corporate training

"Mission-Transcendence" represents two years of artistic incubation for me. Since first hearing Ravi Shankar and other great Indian artists as a teenager, I've been fascinated with the idea of bringing these elements together under one roof, along with my own Western pop and jazz background. In August of 2001, I was fortunate to meet and record with Vijay Shankar Mishra, a great exponent of the sarod, an Indian fretless string instrument. He is equally talented as a vocalist, singing in the traditional Hindustani style of North India. From these first collaborations was born the concept for this album.

I have been listening to Premik for over 30 years and his work never ceases to delight, inspire and thrill me. Every time I have seen him live the experience is, as the title of this work suggests, transcendent. This particular collection is both meditative and equally entertaining. It will go at the top of my "Just Sit and Chill" collection.

WOW! This guy redefines New Age music. The sax on Tears of the Heart is incredible. Something about it just touches me deeply. I also really enjoy how he combines a bit of a funky beat and still carries a spiritual sense throughout on Journey. This CD transecends genre. A must have!! I highly recomend it. Beth

Sometimes music has a distinct colour. There is an overwhelming golden glow about this work which shines through every serene passage. The artist's soul combined with his considerable technical abilities on his chosen instruments combine to make this a truly accomplished music of the heart. This is not merely New Age music, it has considerably more depth. It makes a perfect antidote to the strains of modern life, although it is too lively an excursion into the realms of percussion and rhythm to send you to sleep !

Yikes, I love this album so much I got timed out writing first review. So this will be short. Spring for the full resolution CD and enjoy this beautiful TRANSCENDENTAL, Eastern- but different, filled with beautiful wind instruments-unique album. you will find this will transport and mesmerize you. Just buy a copy and try driving in NYC traffic if you don't believe me. You will be above the chaos of the mad YELLOW Cabs and gas guzzling SUV crowd. Oh, and my friends raved after they heard this guy live, in NYC in "the Village" at Cafe Vivaldi in March 2008. All are now fans!! Do yourself a favor --just get this CD Hi Rez Hi Fi Guy
